At the end of March 2025, we packed up our big white van and hit the road for an alpine adventure—our 10th visit to La Plagne. The crew: Mum, Dad, Mum’s legendary friend Mad Mary O’Grady, my incredible assistant Ruth, and me. This place has become a second home, and each year it gets more accessible, more familiar—and yet, somehow, more exciting.
After a smooth Channel Tunnel crossing, we drove 1.6 hours to DOMITYS in Saint-Quentin—our favourite overnight stop. Clean, quiet, accessible, and stress-free. Perfect for breaking up the journey.
The next day, we powered through France and arrived at Belambra Terra Nova in La Plagne just in time for dinner. It’s right on the slopes at Plagne Centre, with ski-in, ski-out access and big mountain views. Ideal setup.
We kicked off the trip sorting gear, lift passes, and getting into mountain mode. I was beyond excited to test my brand new Tessier Tempo Duo sit-ski—stable, smooth, and built for adventure.
Jordan from Oxygène Ski School piloted me the first and last afternoons and coached Dad on two sessions. With some excellent guidance (and serious determination), Dad earned his Tessier pilot endorsement—and by midweek, we were flying down the slopes together as a proper team.
He only dropped me once off a chairlift, but in his words, "Let’s talk about the 100+ successful uplifts instead." Fair enough.
Midway through the week, Katie Moore flew out and joined us. She took over helping me in the mornings and evenings, giving Mum and Dad the chance to recharge. Instead of sleeping in, they went full ski-mountaineer—skinning up the mountain at dawn for coffee at the top restaurant, then skiing down to meet us for breakfast. Respect.
This year we spent most of our time on the red runs—steeper, more exciting, and way more fun than the mellow blues. But what I loved most was the off-piste skiing. We keep discovering new routes every year, and it never gets old. It’s wild, unpredictable, and full of surprises.
Adventure is when you're not sure what's going to happen—and that's exactly what I love. The challenge, the unknown, the thrill of carving fresh lines where no one else is. That’s where I feel most alive.
One of the best parts of the trip was running into Rosie, an old school friend. We skied a few days with her family and had an absolute blast. Rosie’s a brilliant skier and always brings good energy.
We also met Ernst, who straight-lined everything (seriously), and Nienke, aka The Red Baron, who rocked a red Tessier Scarver sit-ski. She was fast, fearless, and ridiculously cool—a total inspiration.
Dad nailed the Tessier Tempo Duo setup, and by the end of the week, we were working like clockwork. Whether we were cruising reds or bouncing through spring snow off-piste, we had it dialled in. Dad’s the best ski buddy—steady, focused, and always up for the next run.
Ten full days on the mountain flew by. The spring snow held up beautifully, the skies stayed mostly clear, and the energy stayed high from start to finish. Between Belambra Terra Nova, Oxygène Ski School, and an amazing support crew, everything just clicked.
La Plagne never disappoints. After ten years, we still find new routes, meet new friends, and push new limits. The resort keeps improving access, and the sense of freedom it offers is unmatched.
If you're thinking about an accessible ski trip—go here. Chase the adventure. Even if you don’t know what’s coming, that’s the whole point.
Already counting down to visit number eleven.
