Kendal Pride: Love, Community & Celebration
Yesterday turned out to be such an exhilarating day for me! I finally got to attend Kendal Pride, an event I had been eagerly looking forward to for quite some time.
The performance by Sign Out Loud was absolutely mind-blowing. Although I wasn’t able to get on stage and join them, I had a fantastic time soaking up the incredible atmosphere and enjoying every moment. Sally and her wonderful team worked tirelessly throughout the day, keeping everything running smoothly while making sure there was plenty of fun and laughter for everyone.
Later on, it was fantastic to watch TOTE perform. The band members are Jess on vocals, Dan on guitar, Leo on bass, and Matt on drums. They exceeded all expectations, bringing the house down with an electrifying set that energised the crowd and created an unforgettable atmosphere. It was especially nice for me because I went to nursery school with Dan and primary school with Matt, which made seeing them perform even more special.
I was also lucky enough to meet the fabulous drag queen and host, Viola, who was another real highlight of the day. She did a brilliant job as MC, keeping the audience entertained and the event flowing smoothly. One of my favourite moments was during TOTE’s final song, when Viola joined the band on violin. She blended in so seamlessly that it felt as though she had always been part of the group. Her performance was outstanding and added something truly special to an already incredible set.
It was such a memorable experience from start to finish. I genuinely love watching performances like these, although it was a little disappointing that the stage wasn't accessible for me, meaning I couldn't join Sign Out Loud on stage.
The afternoon went wonderfully as well, and overall it was a day I’ll cherish forever. Who knows—maybe next year I'll get the chance to perform myself!
